The Focus groups are based on the concept of Swedish Fika - cake and connection

Ahead of the National Young Carers Conference on March 7th 2026 which is a fully funded Erasmus+ Youth Partcipation Project By Leargas (Irish EU funding national agency) the youth project team hosted FIKA Focus Groups around Ireland for young carers aged 10 - 17. The project team met with young carers for food and fun whilst also talking about their role and how they felt their lives could be improved.

We found this to be a vital part of raising the voice of young people and making the conference a co-produced event by young carers for young carers.

We will also be hosting an online FiKA Focus Group for YOUNG ADULT CARERS aged 18-25 on March the 3rd 2025, all registered will recieve a JustEat Voucher
